Nathan was born prematurely at 29 weeks, weighing just over three pounds. He spent the first 75 days of his life in the NICU at Northside where he and I (the mom) received incredible medical care and support from the team of nurse practitioners, physicians, nurses, and therapists. While we were grateful to live just 15 minutes from the hospital and rely on our friends and family for daily help, many families find themselves in a situation where they must make decisions about whether they can afford the transportation expenses, additional childcare, and time off work required just in order to visit their sweet preemies in the hospital.
